Boeing 737 MAX 8

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 is a key variant of the 737 MAX family, representing the fourth and most recent generation of Boeing’s highly successful 737 narrow-body aircraft.1 Launched as a successor to the 737 Next Generation (NG) series, the MAX 8 incorporates significant advancements aimed at improving fuel efficiency, increasing range, and enhancing passenger comfort.2 These improvements are primarily driven by more efficient CFM International LEAP-1B engines, distinctive split-tip winglets for improved aerodynamics, and the “Boeing Sky Interior” featuring modern sculpted sidewalls, LED lighting, and larger overhead bins.3 The 737 MAX 8 typically seats between 162 and 189 passengers in a two-class configuration, though a high-density version, the 737 MAX 8-200, can accommodate up to 210 passengers.4 Its first flight occurred on January 29, 2016, and the first delivery, a MAX 8, was made to Malindo Air in May 2017. Despite a challenging period involving a global grounding following two tragic accidents, the aircraft has since returned to service with significant software updates and revised pilot training protocols, and remains a widely ordered and utilized aircraft by airlines worldwide for short-to-medium-haul routes.
