Boeing 737 MAX 9

The Boeing 737 MAX 9 is the second-largest variant in the 737 MAX family, representing a stretched version of the popular 737 MAX 8. It completed its first flight on April 13, 2017, with Lion Air Group serving as the launch customer, taking its first delivery for Thai Lion Air in March 2018. Designed to offer increased passenger capacity and improved economics over its predecessors, the MAX 9 can typically accommodate between 178 and 193 passengers in a two-class configuration, with a maximum certified capacity of up to 220 passengers. Like other MAX variants, it features the fuel-efficient CFM International LEAP-1B engines, advanced technology winglets, and the modern Boeing Sky Interior, all contributing to better fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and enhanced passenger comfort compared to the previous 737 Next Generation models. Despite its operational advantages, the MAX 9 has gained significant public attention due to its plug door configuration, particularly after a recent in-flight incident involving an Alaska Airlines aircraft, leading to increased scrutiny and inspections by regulatory bodies.
