KASN is the airport in Talladega. There has not been one single employee here that has not been exceptionally friendly and this is my all time favorite airport solely because of the hospitality of the staff.

I film here during NASCAR race weekends twice a year. If I wasn’t provided the access that I get then I would film from across the street by the dirt track which offers a straight on shot of the runway.

When To Planespot

If you want to spot race weekend then you’ll get traffic Friday, Saturday and Sunday with Sunday obviously being the busiest of these days. You’ll get a lot of the race team Embraer ERJs arriving Friday and the occasional driver comes in on Friday. Saturday sees the majority of the drivers and then on Sunday you get team owners, sponsors and other VIPs and then EVERYONE is leaving after the race.

Michael Jordan at Talladega Superspeedway

Michael Jordan is known to attend just about every single race at Talladega. I’ve gotten to film him and his jet a couple of times now. He gets whisked away by private security in a convoy of SUVs within minutes of arriving.
