Boeing 737-900ER

The Boeing 737-900ER (Extended Range) is the largest and final variant of the highly successful 737 Next Generation (NG) family, specifically designed to address the capacity and range limitations of the standard 737-900. Launched by Boeing in July 2005, with Lion Air of Indonesia as the launch customer receiving its first delivery in April 2007, the -900ER differentiates itself with the crucial addition of an extra pair of emergency exit doors aft of the wing. This modification allows it to carry up to 215 passengers in a high-density, single-class configuration, a significant increase from the 737-900’s limit of 189 passengers.Furthermore, the -900ER incorporates structural and aerodynamic enhancements, including strengthened wings and optional auxiliary fuel tanks, which extend its range to approximately 3,200 nautical miles (5,900 km), making it suitable for longer domestic and some international routes. Its improved performance and higher capacity have made it a popular choice for airlines seeking a versatile and efficient narrow-body aircraft, with major operators including Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.
